Analyst Program
We have opportunities for about ten college graduates in our two to three year analyst program in our
Organization
· Cowen specializes in value added, high margin investment banking services and products. The product groups include Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Private Equity. The corporate finance groups include Alternative Energy, Consumer, Health Care, Industrials, and Technology. After the initial interview, candidates interview with and are hired directly into a product or corporate finance group.
· Our analysts can expect a fast-paced, demanding work environment that offers the opportunity to learn and grow professionally. Analysts work in small deal teams on a wide range of transactions. From initial client contact through closing a transaction, our analysts are an integral part of the transaction process: researching, valuing, pricing, marketing, and structuring transactions.
· The position requires a minimum two-year commitment. Depending on individual performance, many analysts are invited to stay for a third year. Superior performers are often promoted to the associate level at the end of their third year.
Training
· The Analyst Training Program, which begins in early July, provides a five-week introduction and orientation to the firm and its capabilities. The curriculum includes coursework in accounting, financial analysis, modeling, valuation, and Excel. The program is thorough, combining the substance of a much larger bank's training program with the personal attention found in a seminar.
We have opportunities for about five associates in our
· Cowen specializes in value added, high margin investment banking services and products. The product groups include Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Private Equity. The corporate finance groups include Alternative Energy, Consumer, Health Care, Industrials, and Technology. After the initial interview, candidates interview with and are hired directly into a product or corporate finance group.
· Upon completing the Associate Training Program, first-year associates join their group. Associates work directly with senior bankers on a range of domestic and cross border transactions. From initial client contact through closing a transaction, our associates are an integral part of our deal teams: researching, valuing, pricing, marketing, and structuring transactions. Associates must maintain and manage a significant level of interaction with both clients and senior bankers.
Training
· The Associate Training Program, which begins in early August, provides a five-week introduction and orientation to the firm and its capabilities. The curriculum includes coursework in advanced accounting, financial modeling, valuation, corporate finance, debt markets, presentation skills, Excel, and marketing. Part of the program includes preparing for and taking the Series 79 exam. The program is thorough, combining the substance of a much larger bank's training program with the personal attention found in a seminar.
Summer Analyst Program
We have opportunities for about seven college juniors as summer analysts in our
Organization
· Cowen specializes in value added, high margin investment banking services and products. The product groups include Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Private Equity. The corporate finance groups include Alternative Energy, Consumer, Health Care, Industrials, and Technology.
· Summer analysts can expect a fast-paced, demanding work environment that offers the opportunity to learn and grow professionally. During the internship, each summer analyst will work on a variety of transactions. Responsibilities include performing financial analysis, conducting industry and company research, and preparing presentations.
Program
· After the initial interview, candidates interview with and are hired directly into a product or corporate finance group. Summer analysts spend ten weeks with us from early June through August, staying in one group. They are expected to work alongside our full-time analysts while learning from them. The summer program begins in early June with a week of training, including an introduction and orientation to the firm and its capabilities, as well as coursework in accounting, modeling, valuation, and Excel. Through a series of weekly lunches, summer analysts meet with senior management across all of Cowen's businesses. Occasional receptions and a summer outing encourage summer analysts to interact with analysts, associates, and officers throughout Investment Banking. Each summer analyst is assigned a mentor, usually from his/her school. The summer program consistently provides a core group of hires for our full-time analyst program.
Summer Associate Program
We have opportunities for about five summer associates in our

· Summer associates spend ten to twelve weeks with us in either a product or corporate finance group. They work directly with senior bankers on a range of domestic and cross border transactions. From initial client contact through closing a transaction, our summer associates are an integral part of our deal teams; researching, valuing, pricing, marketing, and structuring transactions. Summer associates must maintain and manage a significant level of interaction with both clients and senior bankers.
